Job Description

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Special Education, the Special Education Setting 3 Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to support the academic and social-emotional needs of students with disabilities; assesses student progress against instructional objectives; follows State mandated due process procedures and functions as IEP Case Manager to assigned students. We are looking for a self-starting, motivated, energetic, licensed Special Education Teacher to work with our unique small group of students, collaborate with service providers, general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents to create an optimal learning environment.

Support in place for this teaching position include paraprofessionals, BCBA, RBT, IEP writer and mentoring.

Job Duties
  • Provide research-based academic instruction aligned with state standards, thoughtfully adapted to meet each student’s unique learning needs.
  • Support student growth through meaningful functional life skills instruction, communication development, and social-emotional learning opportunities.
  • Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional strategies.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on IEP goals, behavior plans, and social-emotional learning.
  • Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.
  • Implements annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students.
  • Coordinates the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP.
  • Serves as primary contact for the parent.
  • Provides direction and supervision of educational assistants as directed.
  • Complies with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations.
  • Completes all district and state reporting requirements.
  • Participates in the building Student Support Team, School Wide Support Team, Paraprofessional meetings and staff meetings.
  • Communicates effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators regarding student interventions and progress.
  • Creates and maintains a professional working relationship with families and staff.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Hold a Special Education teaching license in Minnesota (or be eligible to be licensed).
  • Commitment to TCGIS’s mission, vision, values & strategic goals.
  • Eligible to work in the United States (and/or commitment to work with TCGIS to receive work permit).
  • Dedicated, flexible and supportive of charter school concept.
  • Must be a passionate, dedicated, and resourceful teacher.
  • Strong working knowledge of Minnesota Learning Standards.
  • Ability to participate in and successfully complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training, and maintain current CPI certification as required by the district.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Special Education license in ASD or EBD.
  • Experience working with students in a Setting 2 or 3 program.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience.
  • German language proficiency.
