OVERVIEW

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) at the University of St. Thomas invites applications for a tenure-track faculty member.

The position is a full-time, 9-month position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning September 1, 2027. The GSPP welcomes candidates who are committed to the mission of the college, which centers on health equity and social justice, being in solidarity with underrepresented and marginalized populations, and creating a culture of belonging. We are particularly interested in applicants with professional experience in assessment and intervention across the lifespan.

We welcome applications from candidates from a variety of specialties, particularly when their expertise complements existing curriculum and creates new opportunities for students. Teaching responsibilities may vary depending upon the candidate’s backgrounds and interests, and could include coursework in any or all of the following areas:
Introductory, Advanced, or Developmental Psychopathology, Lifespan Development, Child & Adolescent Assessment and Intervention, Measurement, Personality and Cognitive Assessment, Trauma and Counseling, Health Psychology, and Geropsychology. Part‑time consultation and clinical practice are encouraged, consistent with our practitioner‑scholar model. Previous experience with accreditation processes, training, and other administrative work is also valued.

The GSPP is housed within the interdisciplinary Morrison Family College of Health. The GSPP aims to train practitioner‑scholars who integrate the science of psychology with self‑reflective practice; think systemically and developmentally; and provide ethical, inclusive, and culturally sensitive services to advance the common good. The GSPP community is committed to providing a supportive learning environment that actively seeks and values diversity among its students, staff, and faculty.

This includes diversity in cultures, values, and experiences; diversity in perspectives including theoretical models, "ways of knowing" and associated scholarly paradigms; and diversity in ways of healing and engaging in professional practice. Faculty, staff, and students in the GSPP strive to uphold a collegial and supportive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and advise MA and PsyD students
  • Supervise doctoral dissertations
  • Engage in scholarship and service at the school, university, and community levels.
