Thermal / Structural Engineer – North Wind
North Wind is a leading independent supplier of complex hypersonic and RDT&E systems.
Base pay range $100,000 – $140,000 per year.
SummaryResponsible for overall building design and construction of heavy‑structural aero‑test equipment for jet engine test cells, wind tunnels, and other aerospace ground test facilities.
Responsibilities- Design and Analysis – Develop facility and equipment design solutions; collaborate with project teams; prepare detailed calculations and approve drawings.
- Scope, Schedule, Budget – Perform engineering tasks on schedule and within budget; communicate status and variances.
- Documentation – Prepare design criteria, calculation packages, procurement specifications, technical reports, validation plans, and product manuals.
- Support – Provide remote and onsite engineering support during construction and fabrication.
- Quote – Assist marketing in developing proposals; develop concepts, cost estimates, and recommendations.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture.
- 5+ years of practical work experience in design engineering, structural analysis, building construction oversight or similar.
- Combination of education and experience equivalent to above.
- Self‑starter; work on multiple projects and prioritize workload.
- Proficiency in structural engineering and architectural details.
- Working knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical engineering.
- Experience with FEM modeling (RISA, ANSYS, or similar).
- Familiarity with national building codes and design codes (IBC, Eurocode, AISC, ACI, NFPA, FM Global, CE).
- Experience writing technical specifications.
- Proficiency with CAD:
AutoCAD, Revit, and Solid Works preferred. - Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet budgets and schedules.
- Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
