Overview
Structural Engineer (Buildings) – 4 to 10 years of experience at Ayres Associates.
Responsibilities- Design a wide variety of new buildings and modifications to existing buildings.
- Work under the supervision of senior structural engineering staff to design and prepare plans for buildings and other structures.
- Perform structural design and analysis of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structural elements utilizing structural design software.
- Prepare and review structural drawings and details.
- Research and apply code requirements.
- Prepare technical reports and specifications for buildings and other structures.
- Responsibilities may include assisting with structural condition assessments and construction observation, potentially requiring sporadic short-term (typically 1-3 days) out of town travel and overnight stays.
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Minimum of 4 years of building design experience.
- Design experience in a variety of building types and materials.
- Strong knowledge of building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318, etc.).
- Proficiency in a structural analysis software (RISA, RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, SAP
2000, or similar). - Proficiency in Mathcad and Microsoft Excel software.
- Experience with the production of structural construction documents.
- Proficiency in modeling structures and producing construction drawings with Revit beneficial, but not required.
- Working knowledge of seismic design beneficial, but not required.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated learner with a passion for advancing personal expertise in structural engineering.
- Master’s degree in structural engineering a plus.
