Base pay range

$23.26/hr - $34.87/hr

What you’ll do as a Lab Technician
  • Assist laboratory personnel in performing the functions of the department. This includes laboratory technical support in the development of Near IR calibration curves.
  • Assist laboratory personnel in work activities involving titrations, and Near IR measurements.
  • Perform polyester cooks under the direction of R&D chemists.
  • Perform vinyl ester cooks under the direction of R&D chemists.
  • Perform nonvolatiles, acid number, hydroxyl number, moisture content, and other analyses as required.
  • Communicate effectively and on a timely basis with laboratory personnel on all developments or matters resulting from laboratory work activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely recordkeeping.
  • Collect and provide data and updates for all projects that are assigned.
  • Operate laboratory-testing equipment, batch making equipment, computer analysis systems, and participate in training programs to ensure uniform technical approach.
  • Maintain laboratory facilities in neat and orderly condition.
  • Maintain monthly inspections of the lab and office spaces using the HSC inspection checklist.
  • Comply with ISO and PRECOM administrative procedures used within the Advanced Technology Laboratory.

What we’re looking for in a Lab Technician
  • Must be capable of performing basic mathematical calculations (percentages)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Organization – work in an orderly manner; maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Bachelor’s in Chemistry (preferred)
  • Experience with polyester synthesis (preferred)
  • Knowledge of infrared spectroscopy (preferred)
  • Training with titration methods (preferred)
