Position: Backup and Storage infrastructure Engineer.

Overview

Element Materials Technology is seeking a highly skilled Microsoft Windows Server and Veeam Backup Engineer to join our Core Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supporting and maintaining Windows Server environments and Veeam-based backup solutions. This role is critical in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our server infrastructure, with a focus on robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.

Responsibilities

Backup and Disaster Recovery (Primary Job Focus):

  • Implement Veeam solutions tailored to meet business continuity and retention policies
  • Migrate existing backup systems to Veeam, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity
  • Develop and deliver technical documentation
  • Administer and maintain Veeam Backup & Replication environments
  • Implement and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity
  • Monitor and optimize backup jobs to ensure efficiency and reliability
  • Integrate backup solutions with cloud and on-premises storage platforms
  • Provide backup restoration services and performance tuning recommendations
  • Perform health checks, audits, and capacity planning for Veeam systems

Server Administration:

  • Manage and administer Windows Server operating systems, including installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance
  • Strong Hyper-V and VMware management skills
  • System Monitoring:
    Implement and maintain monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address potential server issues. Respond to alerts and take corrective actions
  • Patch Management:
    Apply patches and updates to Windows servers in a timely manner to address security vulnerabilities and ensure system reliability

Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and resolve backup related issues, collaborating with other IT teams and vendors as needed

Performance Optimization:

  • Identify and implement performance optimization measures to ensure the efficient operation of Windows and backup servers

Security Compliance:

  • Enforce security policies and practices to protect Windows server and backup environments from unauthorized access and potential threats

Documentation:

  • Create and maintain documentation for server configurations, backup policies and disaster recovery procedures, and troubleshooting steps

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other IT teams, system administrators, and network engineers to ensure seamless integration of Windows and backup servers with the overall IT infrastructure
Skills / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Microsoft Certified:
    Windows Server certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE)
  • Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)
  • 3+ years of experience in Windows server administration
  • 2+ years of experience managing and deploying Veeam backup and replication
  • Proficient in Windows Server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022)
  • Experience with VMware and Hyper-V virtualized environments
  • Familiarity with server hardware and storage systems. Experience of deploying and managing Dell and QNAP storage
