About This RoleThe Building Automation Technician Supervisor leads a team of Field Engineers (FE), managing training, performance and project execution. The role coordinates with Project Management, ensures work meets budget and schedule, and provides technical expertise and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities- Communicate and document with customers, subcontractors and ALC Department Management, ensuring field staff do so.
- Manage timesheets, site visits and daily logs in Cora PPM, and follow up on log collection.
- Use Cora PPM to generate reports, spreadsheets and schedules.
- Represent Automated Logic in meetings, ready to defend company interests.
- Conduct yearly and semi‑yearly performance reviews for all direct reports.
- Provide feedback to Engineering, Graphics developers and programmers on quality and standards.
- Understand and monitor project budgets, providing continuous feedback on performance, budgets and quality.
- Attend turnover meetings, pre‑bid meetings and other essential meetings.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to coordinate task assignment and resource scheduling in Cora PPM.
- Coordinate project schedule with electrical subcontractors and other trades to maintain schedule.
- Be proficient in ALC programming and graphical work for assigned projects.
- Provide technical assistance and, when needed, leverage other FE resources.
- Help develop and improve company standards, mentoring plans and training.
- Assist in interview preparation and conduct interviews with potential candidates.
- Attend seminars, enroll in courses and undertake self‑improvement activities to maintain proficiency.
- Strong understanding of systems software to read, test and modify logic.
- Ability to create, download and troubleshoot HVAC logic using WebCTRL and related software.
- Effective communication of issues to Project Manager in a timely manner.
- Good working knowledge of WebCTRL functions and utilities.
- Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networks including wireless technology, layout and troubleshooting.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information to a non‑technical audience.
- Proficient reading and understanding of architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints.
- Expertise in control sequences for operation and control of mechanical equipment.
- HS Diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of experience in the low‑voltage subcontracting industry including HVAC controls.
- 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Clean and valid driver’s license.
- Capacity to climb ladders or use lift equipment above 8 ft and lift up to 50 lb.
- Ability to travel regionally with occasional overnight stays.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience handling multiple simultaneous challenges across disciplines.
- Field experience with Automated Logic controls and third‑party systems.
- Background in mechanical and HVAC system operation and design.
- Experience in project management, project management software, and CORA applications.
- Experience with Automated Logic and Phoenix software such as Web Ctrl, Site Builder, View Builder, Logic Builder, Inter Op 3.02, Alert, Draw, EDB, Eikon, and Supervision.
