The purpose of your role as a Payroll Tax Analyst
As a Payroll Tax Analyst, you will perform a wide variety of record keeping, payroll processing activities, and payroll system analysis duties. Payroll tax processing responsibilities include monitor and file daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly tax filings and payments, identify required tax setup based on employer residence and job location, open required tax accounts. Effectively manage payroll systems to support the organization’s needs.
Works under minimal supervision.
- Prepare tax payments
- Ensure that computing, withholding, and deductions are done correctly.
- Process payroll taxes for weekly and biweekly payroll cycles for union and non-union employees
- Answer employee questions related to payroll and resolve issues.
- Issue and record adjustments to pay related to previous errors or retroactive increases.
- Design and maintain the payroll system in support of the organizations data management and reporting needs.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of organizational data within the payroll system
- Create standard and ad hoc queries or reports
- Provide data summaries or statistical analysis for use in strategic planning or decision-making
- Follow established procedures for updating, validating, and correcting employee records
- Prepare end-user documentation or training materials as needed
- Associates degree required in HR, Accounting, or related
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of prior experience with payroll tax set up and filing
- 5+ years of proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- 5+ years of Microsoft Office experience – strong excel skills
- Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy
- Working knowledge of payroll policies and procedures and federal and state statutes pertaining to FLSA
- Knowledge of payroll laws and accounting practices
- Knowledge of Federal and State tax requirements
- Knowledge of wage and hour laws
- Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy
- Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes
