The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for providing infection prevention and control consultation both proactively and in response to outbreaks within the facilities. Infection control is a part of ensuring the safety of residents and to facilitate the goal of achieving and maintaining the highest practicable physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident. This position will support implementation of patient safety initiatives for COVID-19 and other emerging pathogens by performing onsite infection prevention and control assessments, providing health education to pertinent people, and serving as experts in infection control issues.

Will be required to fill in when short staff as a floor RN. On call overnights is included in position when needed.

• Provide infection prevention and control consultation proactively and in response to outbreaks within facilities.
• Support implementation of patient safety initiatives for COVID-19 and other emerging pathogens through onsite assessments and education.
• Serve as an infection control expert and collaborate with facility staff to maintain high standards of resident safety.
• Fill in as a floor RN when short-staffed; on-call overnight duties included as needed.

• RN, at minimum a nursing degree from a program approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
• Current Minnesota Registered Nurse license.
• Current CPR and emergency care certification (preferred).
• Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community.
