Cytologist

Overview

Regions Hospital is currently seeking a self-motivated, quality-focused Cytologist to join our laboratory team.

• Perform cytological analysis of benign and malignant conditions.
• Identify unusual findings including insufficiency in the preparations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

FTE: 1.0 (40 Hrs. Weekly), Monday-Friday

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or allied health sciences including Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology, etc. and successful completion of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) or ASCP approved School of Cytotechnology.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: ASCP board certification or eligible. Two (2) years of Cytotechnology work experience within the last five- (5) years may substitute for the educational qualifications. Must be certified within one year of hire. If ASCP certified after 2004, must participate in the Certificate of Maintenance Program (CMP).

Experience:

Three years of experience as a cytotechnologist in a CLIA accredited laboratory.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: ASCP certification and completion of a CLIA approved proficiency test taken within the year of hire.
