Gillette Children's is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) physical therapist to join the Rehabilitation Therapies team for a six month term position, Monday to Friday days shifts performing pediatric outpatient care at the St. Paul 205 University Avenue location, with occasional weekend coverage of inpatient services at the St. Paul hospital location. The successful candidate may need to cover other Gillette sites if necessary.
The six month term position will be covering a temporary physical therapy staffing leave. April 2026 through September 2026 is the preferred six month period. There is the potential for the position becoming permanent providing solid job performance and growth of physical therapy services. Provides direct and indirect family centered therapy services for patients to increase functional abilities, independence and community integration. Contributes to department, program and service teams to assure achievement of desired outcomes.
Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient’s condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams.
Compensationand Benefits Information
The hourly wage for this opportunity is $37.17 to $55.73, with a median wage of $46.45/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay just one part of the compensation package for employees. $2.75 weekend/evening/night differential is available for this position.
- Completes an evaluation utilizing principles of family-centered care.
- Implements a therapy care plan utilizing principles of family-centered care.
- Completes necessary administrative and procedural tasks in a timely manner.
- Completes training in essential job competencies.
- PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE/REGISTRATION
- Physical Therapy State License
- Pending credentials:
Registration and Licensure pending, not to exceed three months in this status
- Current certification in CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association) or must obtain certification within 90-days of hire.
- Knowledge: transition from pediatric to adult health and rehabilitation care and of rehabilitation practice for adults with Childhood onset disabilities.
- Pediatric experience strongly preferred in Burnsville, Minnetonka, Maple Grove and St. Paul; desirable at Phalen Adult Clinic. Experience working with adults with childhood onset disabilities strongly preferred at Phalen Adult; desirable in Burnsville, Minnetonka, Maple Grove and St. Paul.
- Knowledge of child growth and development, rehabilitation theory and practice with a wide variety of childhood onset diagnoses and related considerations including anatomy and neurology, emotional behavior factors, family needs and issues, community transition and equipment.
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Ability to function as an effective team member
- Competency in physical therapy evaluation, treatment and family/community education and planning for transition to community services.
- Pediatric experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge: transition from pediatric to adult health and rehabilitation care and of rehabilitation practice for adults with Childhood onset disabilities.
- Experience working with adults with childhood onset disabilities desirable.
