About Surgi Smoke Solutions

Surgi Smoke Solutions is pioneering the future of operating room air safety through our hands-free smoke and bioaerosol capture technology. Our Flamingo Funnel family of devices outperforms traditional smoke evacuation pens—removing nearly twice as much smoke—while offering a compact, unobtrusive footprint optimized for modern surgical workflows.

At Surgi Smoke, our mission is to deliver cleaner air, clearer vision, and safer operating rooms, while helping facilities comply with smoke evacuation mandates and standards (AORN, OSHA, state-level requirements).

As we continue to expand, we seek a dedicated clinical professional who can champion our technology in the OR, educate users, and translate clinical insights into product and process improvements.

Role Summary

As a Clinical Support Specialist, you will be Surgi Smoke’s in-the-field clinical expert and primary interface to perioperative teams. You will deliver clinical education, assist in live surgeries, troubleshoot OR challenges, and gather real-world feedback to drive product enhancements and adoption. Your role is critical in bridging the gap between device engineering and surgical practice, ensuring the Flamingo Funnel line is used effectively, safely, and with confidence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Education & Training
    • Conduct in-service training, clinical demonstrations, and hands‑on workshops for surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR nurses, and sterile processing staff.
    • Support live cases—ensuring correct placement, setup, and operation of the Flamingo Funnel device within diverse surgical workflows.
    • Develop and maintain clinical protocol guides, quick reference guides, and training materials tailored to different surgical specialties.
  • Operational Support & Troubleshooting
    • Act as the on‑site resource during initial device rollouts, product conversions, or evaluation periods.
    • Diagnose and resolve operational or integration issues, providing real‑time solutions to OR staff.
    • Ensure that the device is used in alignment with safety guidelines and institutional policies.
  • Clinical & Market Feedback
    • Document and report user feedback, field observations, and clinical outcomes to the internal product, quality, and regulatory teams.
    • Identify case studies, clinical evidence, and customer success stories for use internally and in marketing or regulatory submissions.
    • Monitor compliance trends, state mandates, and institutional policies around surgical smoke evacuation.
  • Sales & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate with the Sales/Account teams to support product evaluations, trials, and institutional adoption.
    • Engage key stakeholders—chief surgeons, perioperative leaders, infection prevention committees—to present clinical evidence and safety benefits.
    • Represent Surgi Smoke at meetings, conferences, trade shows, and professional society events (e.g. AORN, ASCA).
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with R&D, Quality, Marketing, and Regulatory affairs to ensure device enhancements reflect field needs.
    • Participate in internal training updates to stay current on new product features, safety data, and regulatory changes.
    • Support the development of SOPs, clinical validation programs, and post‑market surveillance efforts.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Education / Licensure
    • Registered Nurse (RN), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), BSN, RRT, or equivalent clinical credential preferred.
  • Experience
    • 3+ years’ experience in perioperative environments (OR, surgical services, sterile processing) or surgical device support.
    • Demonstrated experience with clinical education, in‑service training, and surgical device deployment.
    • Experience in adoption of new technology in surgical settings is a plus.
  • Skills & Attributes
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills; capable of engaging surgeons, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams.
    • Confident in OR settings; strong understanding of sterile technique, workflow, and surgical team dynamics.
    • Problem‑solver mindset and ability to think on your feet in high‑pressure environments.
    • Self‑motivated, able to travel, and manage a territory independently.
    • Familiarity with hospital purchasing, clinical committees, and regulatory/standards environments (AORN, OSHA, state‑level mandates).
