This position exists to plan and coordinate the activities of the Public Health Strategy and Partnership Division to build a more seamless, responsive, publicly supported public health system for Minnesota in collaboration with state, local, and Tribal public health partners.
Working as the Public Health System Strategy Planning Director, you will:
- Design and implement strategies, projects, and activities aligned with the strategic roadmap for public health system transformation in coordination with key partners, including the Center for Public Health Practice, Office of American Indian Health, MDH leadership, the State Community Health Services Advisory Committee, Local Public Health Association, and Tribal Nations.
- Serve as lead worker and coordinate with MDH and Public Health Strategy and Partnership Division staff (including the Center for Public Health Practice) to ensure strategies, projects, and activities are aligned with the strategic roadmap for public health system transformation.
- Provide planning and facilitation support to the Joint Leadership Team so that they can fulfill their role in providing thought leadership and direction for public health system transformation.
This position is currently eligible for up to 50% hybrid telework for applicants residing in Minnesota or a bordering state within 50 miles of the work location.
Minimum QualificationsFour (4) years of experience that includes planning, leading or coordinating/managing projects.
Qualifications to be Assessed During the Interview Process- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and to collaboratively work across a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor and report on a strategic plan.

- Doctorate degree = Twenty‑four (24) months
- Master's degree = 18 months
- Bachelor's degree = 12 months
- Associate degree = 6 months
- Advanced‑level knowledge of planning and system change methodologies and their application within and across large or complex organizations.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of public health, including national standards, state laws, regulations, and policies.
- Project administration experience sufficient to analyze cost‑benefit considerations, design, plan, establish time and cost controls, monitor progress and evaluate project results.
