Responsibilities

This position provides technical and administrative support in the Operations unit of the Human Resources Division. It is responsible for accurate and timely entry of employee and position data transactions in the State Employee Management (SEMA4) system for the Department of Administration and SmART agencies. The position also serves as backup for key HR functions, including supporting the HR Leave Coordinator with leave administration and providing coverage and backup support for the HR Operations Office Assistant.

This position has access to labor relations information as defined in M.S. 13.27, participates in meetings where state labor negotiations proposals are discussed; and will have access to agency strike plans.

This position is eligible for up to a 50% hybrid telework arrangement. With a telework arrangement, additional onsite attendance may be required for team meetings or as requested by management to meet business needs. Completion of a telework agreement will be required. Please review the Telework Policy for details.

  • One (1) year of experience performing technical and/or administrative support duties in a human resource setting, including:
    • Experience using an HR Information system (HRIS) to review employee and position information and enter employee data.
    • Computer software experience (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, and database software) and keyboarding skills to accurately review and enter data, create employee letters and memos, and run reports.
    • Customer service and communication skills sufficient to provide clear, concise, and accurate explanation of HR policies and procedures in person, on the phone, or through written correspondence.
    • Demonstrated organizational, prioritization and time management skills with the ability to independently initiate and complete a variety of tasks.
    • Experience working with confidential and sensitive information.

  • Experience creating and running OBIEE reports.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment including interpreting and applying union contract language.
Additional Requirements

Successful applicants must pass a criminal background check through American Data Bank and employment reference check prior to employment. A criminal history does not automatically disqualify an applicant, and each case will be reviewed individually in alignment with fair hiring practices.
