This position serves our partners at the Minnesota Department of Administration. MNIT Administration supports systems that power the agency’s diverse responsibilities, including procurement, construction projects, leases, and state property maintenance.
As an Application Administrator, in this position you will analyze, manage, and support information technology systems for Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) in partnership with the Department of Administration (ADMIN), serving multiple ADMIN divisions that have historically lacked dedicated IT support. You will participate in the strategic planning, design, development, implementation, operation, maintenance, monitoring, evaluation, and enhancement of IT systems, ensuring the timely replacement, upgrade, or expansion of services as business needs evolve.
You will analyze and contribute to the design of application, database, and system solutions that support business requirements and system enhancements, while ensuring their availability, reliability, and optimal performance of applications, web servers, websites, and databases during defined operational hours.
As the primary point of contact for technical incidents, you will analyze, diagnose, and resolve issues affecting system performance or availability independently or in coordination with MNIT staff and contracted vendors to restore functionality and minimize service disruptions.
This position requires an employee to be onsite 50 Sherburne Ave., St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.
Telework for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis. Employees will be required to meet current telework eligibility requirements.
This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last two (2) years.

Position requires a minimum of three (3) years of IT related experience in providing application or systems support, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving application or system issues in a production environment.
- Experience supporting business applications (e.g., SaaS, web‑based, or client‑server applications), including incident response, user support, and coordination with vendors or technical teams.
- Working knowledge of databases and web technologies, including basic SQL concepts and understanding of how applications interact with databases and web servers.
- Experience documenting technical issues and solutions, including tracking incidents, system performance issues, and resolution steps.
