Job SummaryWe are looking for a Lead Data Scientist / AI Technical Lead to support our Water Intelligence portfolio. This role balances hands‑on technical development with team leadership and stakeholder partnership. The position plays a critical role in expanding delivery capacity across multiple teams within a growing portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a technical lead supporting AI and data science delivery for water‑related intelligence solutions
- Spend approximately 50% of time hands‑on with development and 50% leading, mentoring, and partnering
- Work closely with product stakeholders to translate business needs into analytical and AI solutions
- Support and mentor junior team members while collaborating with a senior manager overseeing the broader portfolio
- Operate effectively in an environment with distributed teams and mixed onshore/offshore delivery
- Contribute to technical standards and best practices aligned with broader AI platform leadership
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another related technical discipline (or equivalent 4 years of experience in a related industry).
- Experience: 6+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied AI roles, with prior experience acting as a technical lead or senior individual contributor.
- Skills: Strong Python development skills; experience working in Azure‑based analytics environments (Databricks); ability to build, evaluate, and operationalize analytical or AI solutions; comfort balancing hands‑on development with leadership responsibilities.
- Other: Strong communication skills and ability to partner with product and business stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
- Experience in industrial, utilities, water, or research‑adjacent domains
- Comfort transitioning solutions from research‑oriented work into productized delivery environments
