As an Information Security Engineer, you will provide expert technical direction, complex problem resolution and leadership in the design and implementation of information security solutions. This position is a hands‑on technical leadership position. This position has a critical role in the determination and creation of ever‑changing security defense mechanisms in place Information Security Engineer is responsible for implementation of security solutions within the Department of Public Safety Network, as well as performing security monitoring, reporting, and auditing functions.

This position requires an employee to be onsite at 445 N Minnesota St, Minnesota up to three (3) days per week, with the opportunity to work from a telework location on other days. Telework for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis. Employees will be required to meet current telework eligibility requirements.
Minimum Qualifications- Minimum of five (5) years of technical experience in an infrastructure focused information security role that includes leadership in implementing and updating information system security policies, guidelines and technical standards.
- Proven hands‑on experience with Infrastructure architecture and design in physical and cloud environments.
- Providing leadership and governance to multiple teams working to ensure the security of Microsoft, Unix/Linux, internet applications/systems and hardware to secure these systems (firewalls, virtual private networks, encryption, digital certificates, and their relationship to data security).
- Working in a highly regulated, large and heterogeneous environment with the ability to articulate security controls, measures and recommendations to a leadership team.
- Proven experience and leadership working across diverse business lines to resource and monitor remediation efforts to ensure compliance policies and standards or regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
- Customer‑focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution‑oriented problem‑solving to deliver positive user experiences.
- Certifications:
CISSP or other relevant information security certification. - Vulnerability Management systems and remediation strategies using various tools such as Net Brain, Fire Mon, Nessus, Tenable, Acuentix, Solar Winds, and Crowd Strike.
