Job Overview
Associate Vice President, Institutional Effectiveness & Technology/CIO – MnSCU Administrator 9 at Metropolitan State University, St. Paul, MN. Full‑time, exempt, competitive salary range $ – $ annually.
Responsibilities- Lead university‑wide technology strategy, planning, budgeting, and policy for Institutional Effectiveness and Technology (IET) and information resources.
- Supervise IET teams:
Enterprise Service Management, USO Service Center, IT Service Desk, Academic Technology Services, Endpoint Technology Services, University Event Services, Integration, Development, Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Systems, Storage, Data & Information Security, and Network Technologies. - Collaborate with senior leadership (President’s Executive Cabinet) to align technology and data initiatives with institutional goals and strategic plans.
- Ensure secure, innovative, and reliable delivery of IT services across all campus locations and for external partners such as the Minnesota State System’s “eduroam” service.
- Represent Metro State University in system‑level cybersecurity, information technology, and data strategy initiatives, ensuring compliance with state policies and regulations.
- Design and manage technology support, project management, endpoint device support, application development, data center operations, network infrastructure, and information security.
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, business, MIS, or related field. - Ten (10) years of professional IT services experience, including at least three of the following: technology support and service center operations, enterprise service management, project management, endpoint device support, data center operations, network infrastructure, information security.
- Five (5) years of progressively higher‑level supervisory and leadership experience.
- Budgeting experience demonstrating resource optimization, expense reduction, and revenue generation.
- Commitment to the mission of a federally recognized minority‑serving institution and proven record of promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti‑racism.
- Demonstrated use of data for decision‑making in a complex organization.
- Ethical, collaborative, consultative, and team‑oriented leadership style.
- Master’s or doctoral degree in an information technology or related field.
- Three (3) years of IT support experience in higher education.
- Experience in higher education strategic issues and technology’s role in teaching and learning.
- Process improvement experience, effective communication skills, and history of authentic collaboration.
- Experience building organizational capacity and partnering across institutional boundaries.
- Administrative leadership within a collectively bargained higher education institution.
