The Role

Hartzell Aerospace Welding (AWI) seeks a hands‑on Procurement Manager to oversee the procurement process and team, from sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to managing inventory and ensuring cost‑effective purchasing decisions. The Manager will act both as a strategic thinker and tactical executor, play a key role in developing and implementing procurement strategies, maintaining supplier relationships and leading the team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead and collaborate across departments to meet organizational goals effectively.

Expected Deliverables
  • Develop and lead a cohesive and talented staff, nurture a winning culture.
  • Lead the transformation of the Supply Chain and set strategies to meet organizational goals and optimize cost.
  • Manage and lead continuous improvement projects to improve the ability of the supply chain to deliver quality parts, on time at lowest total cost.
  • Monitor and manage supply chain budgets, identifying opportunities for cost savings and ensuring procurement activities stay within budget constraints.
  • Negotiate terms, prices and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure the best value for the company.
  • Manage and understand cross‑functional organization structure to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner and are escalated through proper channels.
    • Collaborate with manufacturing to resolve problems/delays related to the supply chain.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, including disruptions, quality issues or price fluctuations.

  • Become proficient in our Supply Chain Tools (ERP System, Lean DNA, etc.)
  • Become recognized as a key resource with all cross‑functional partners
Requirements Education/Experience

Bachelor of Science in Business preferred; 3‑5 years minimum of related purchasing, procurement or buying experience in a manufacturing environment.

Required Technical Competencies
  • Negotiation Skills – demonstrated ability to strategically and effectively reach mutually beneficial agreements, while protecting the organization’s interests, maintaining relationships and achieving optimal value.
  • Strong Project Management Skills – demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understands business and management principles.
    • Business acumen – understands how the organization operates, generates revenue and delivers value.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the company financials.
    • Understands key business processes, KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Proficient Computer Skills (MS‑Office).
    • Microsoft Office.
    • Proficiency in understanding a complex MRP/ERP system. Knowledge of Epicor Kinetic is a plus.
    • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
    • Willingness and ability to travel.
