Chief Finance & Administration Officer
Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota seeks a Chief Finance & Administration Officer.
An operational leader responsible for overseeing, managing and leading the Financial, Operational, and Lending departments of the organization, focused on sustainability, efficiency and effectiveness, and centered on advancing Habitat’s mission in our region. The CFAO, in partnership with the Lending Team, maintains and advances Habitat Minnesota’s position as a Community Development Finance Institution (CDFI). The CFAO will lead organizational compliance and financial management responsibilities with a wide-reaching impact across critical organizational functions, including executive, finance, lending programs, IT, and vendor relations.

Our core business hours are Monday-Friday between 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Habitat Minnesota is a hybrid work environment, with staff required to be in the office on Mondays (located in St Paul) with the remaining days flexible and some asynchronous work occurring throughout the organization to accommodate various needs.
Habitat Minnesota’s compensation package includes health and dental benefits, 401K match program, generous vacation and sick leave, and paid leave programs for sabbatical and family & medical leaves (supplementing the State program), and other employee benefit options. The salary for this position is $135,000 annually.
ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership:
- Lead, support, and coach staff to ensure that the lending and accounting customer service experience is positive, and the lending and grants programs’ objectives are successfully achieved.
- Build a strong and engaged staff team that integrates its work with all aspects of HFHMN operations.
- Lead the development, oversight and analysis of organizational systems, policies, and procedures for lending and grant programs, financial oversight, and other organizational policies, in coordination with applicable departments.
- Supervise accounting and finance staff, ensuring accounting principles are being appropriately applied and monthly financials are accurate and provided to CEO in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with Executive Leadership and consultants to develop and implement strategic plans and lead annual work planning.
- Align Habitat Minnesota financial policies with the annual planning and budgeting process, identifying necessary resources, tools, materials, and grant/project requirements.
- Drive organizational change initiatives to enhance operational performance and effectiveness.
- Gather, analyze, and visualize data related to operations to provide regular reports on operational performance, providing insights for making informed decisions and improving future planning.
- Conduct annual financial forecasting, trend analysis, loan product pricing and service-level fee-setting and be a thought-partner with the CEO for the financial stability of the organization.
- Lead CDFI compliance and certification procedures, working with the Lending Programs Director, including all connected monitoring, reporting, annual recertification, and performance metric reporting.

- Direct collaborative efforts with Habitat Minnesota leadership, staff, and committees to review, amend, and update operational and financial policies and practices, ensuring alignment and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Drive operational integrity by motivating and supporting staff in adhering to organizational policies, practices, and tools.
- Procure, monitor, and manage business resources and organizational insurance.
- Serves as the organization’s Anti‑Money Laundering Compliance Officer and conduct annual organizational training; stay up to date on all related laws and regulations.
