Fox Valley Program and Partnership Literacy Leader (LitMN)
Fox Valley Literacy empowers adults to reach their goals through literacy, language, and essential skills education. We are a nonprofit organization based in Appleton, Wisconsin, dedicated to supporting adult learners across the Fox Valley. Since our founding in 1990, we have grown into a trusted community resource, providing free or low-cost one-on-one tutoring, English language learning, workforce development, Hmong language, financial literacy, citizenship preparation, and support with reading, writing, speaking, and digital skills.
Our mission is to partner with adult learners to navigate life and achieve their goals through literacy and language support. Our vision is a community where everyone has the language and literacy skills they need to thrive. For us, literacy is not just about learning—it’s about access: to healthcare, housing, education, employment, and full participation in society. Guided by insights from over 800 community members and a new strategic plan, we are focused on strengthening and expanding programs through data-driven decision‑making, growing partnerships, and increasing sustainability.
The Ameri Corps VISTA member will build the organization’s capacity to help more adults gain the reading, communication, digital, health, and financial literacy skills needed to succeed at work and in life, thereby alleviating poverty for adults today and in the future. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys research, planning, and relationship‑building, and who wants to gain professional experience in nonprofit development, data analysis, and community engagement while making a lasting impact on adult learners.
Duties
The Ameri Corps VISTA will strengthen Fox Valley Literacy’s capacity to deliver and sustain impactful adult education programs by enhancing data systems, building partnerships, and developing sponsorship structures. The member will refine program goals and performance targets aligned with the strategic plan, creating efficient, technology-supported systems for collecting and analyzing data to inform decision‑making. They will research and engage potential community partners—such as schools, employers, and health organizations—to co‑develop programs and formalize collaborations through agreements and shared initiatives.
Additionally, the VISTA will design and implement a program sponsorship system to increase corporate, foundation, and individual investment in literacy programs. Through these efforts, the member will build networks, tools, and processes that improve program evaluation, expand community collaboration, and strengthen long‑term organizational sustainability.
