The Sanneh Foundation (TSF) is a 501(c)(3) serving Minnesota’s youth and families through programs focused on education, workforce development, healthy living, sports, and community engagement.

GOAL STATEMENT :
The Events and Outreach VISTA will increase organizational capacity by developing sustainable systems and processes that strengthen community outreach, event engagement, and the identification of strategic opportunities for organizational growth and community impact. The VISTA will support the planning, coordination, and execution of TSF events and community engagement activities across departments, including programmatic events, community outreach and tabling opportunities, fundraising events, and other community-driven opportunities.

The VISTA will strengthen organizational infrastructure by developing standardized planning tools, timelines, communication processes, outreach systems, and event resources that enable staff to anticipate needs, coordinate effectively, and provide responsive support.

Through these efforts, the VISTA will help TSF strengthen its ability to identify and engage with community opportunities, increase awareness and participation in its programs and events, and build organizational systems that can be sustained beyond the VISTA’s service term.

OBJECTIVES of the ASSIGNMENT (09/08/2026 - 11/08/2026)

Learn and Assess TSF’s Event, Outreach, and Community Engagement Practices. Gain an in-depth understanding of TSF and its wide portfolio of programming.

Activities

Step 1:
Complete Ameri Corps VISTA orientation and organizational onboarding and learn TSF's mission, organizational structure, core programs, departments, and major annual events.

Step 2:
Review sustainability materials and event-planning resources created by previous VISTAs and staff to understand existing systems, tools, and gaps.

Step 3:
Review TSF's anticipated event calendar and categorize upcoming events by purpose, including programmatic/community events, recruitment and outreach events, tabling opportunities, and fundraising events.

Step 4:
Meet with staff members and department leads responsible for major events to understand event objectives, timelines, staffing expectations, recurring challenges, and existing resource needs.

Step 5:

Attend and observe TSF events, activations, tabling opportunities, and community engagements to understand current outreach practices, audiences, partnerships, and organizational capacity.

Step 6:
Assess the types of events and community activations TSF currently hosts or participates in, including frequency, audiences, staffing needs, resources required, and departmental involvement.

Step 7:
Conduct outreach and engage with community partners and event organizers to learn about potential opportunities for TSF to expand its community presence and engagement.

Step 8:
Assess current event commitments and organizational capacity to identify potential future events, activations, tabling opportunities, and community partnerships that TSF may not currently be pursuing.

Step 9:
Maintain a centralized resource of current and potential event opportunities, including key contacts, timelines, audiences, estimated resource needs, and potential departmental ownership, to inform future planning and prioritization.
