Department OverviewOur neonatal program is the largest in the Midwest. We provide the full scope of care for infants needing intensive care at the infant intensive care unit (NICU) at Children’s Minnesota St. Paul Campus. Our inter‑disciplinary team of over 500 professionals is dedicated to the care of babies born prematurely, those with birth defects, genetic disorders, medical disorders and any baby needing surgery.
The Children’s St. Paul NICU is a 62‑bed unit providing level 2 and level 3 neonatal care, allowing for continuity of care from admission to discharge.
Coordinates and provides family‑centered nursing care to infants, children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process. Accountable for professional practice including independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions performed in collaboration with other health team members. This is an MNA contract position.
Education Requirements- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Minnesota RN licensure.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current (minimum of 1 year within the last 2 years) NICU experience which includes ability to care for infants requiring assisted ventilation, surgical cases per and post‑op, and pre‑term infants where strong knowledge of developmental care is expected. Float team or PICU RNs who are able to demonstrate neonatal competencies with these same patient types will be evaluated and considered to meet Level 3 qualifications.
- Based upon the unit in which you are applying, additional certification(s) may be required. Department‑specific required qualifications need to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required or obtained during orientation.

Compensation and BenefitsThe posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on‑call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay. All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I‑9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
