Overview
Regions Hospital is hiring a compassionate, collaborative, and committed Nursing Assistant who is driven to provide excellent care to our patients! When you start your career as a Nursing Assistant you will receive 2-3 weeks of training with our nursing education to learn more about our electronic health system, hospital safety, disengagement skills and restraints, and unlicensed assistive partner skills. Being a part of the nursing team at Regions means you will use your technical and people skills to positively impact the type of care our patients receive and overall experience.
Responsibilities- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide patient care treatments as directed (e.g., discontinue IVs, restraint monitoring, and collecting patient vitals, weights, and intake & output) in a safe, timely, and effective manner.
- Regularly collect specimens such as urine, stool, and finger-stick blood glucose at the direction of the nurse.
- Respond to patient call lights and requests, communicate with patients and visitors, and assist nurses with procedures as requested.
- Document and chart in the electronic health system.
7 FTE (28 hours per week) working either days (7:00 am–3:30 pm), evenings (3:00 pm–11:30 pm), or a combination of days and evenings. This position requires you to work every other weekend and holiday.
Required Qualifications- Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program (may include being listed on the MN Registry)
- Or experience in an acute care or long-term care setting as a Nursing Assistant and/or Emergency Room Technician (6 months minimum at 0.5 FTE)
- Or completion of one clinical rotation in an RN or LPN program within the past 12 months
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Experience or nursing assistant education must have occurred within the last five (5) years
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Demonstrates basic computer skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients, visitors, and co-workers
- Ability to independently initiate appropriate tasks within the scope of practice of the position
- Ability to provide individualized care and respond to a variety of patient/family preferences
- Ability to provide an exceptional patient experience using strong customer service skills
- Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in an acute care or hospital setting
- Nursing assistant certification
- Proficiency using Electronic Health Record (EPIC)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Our Nursing Assistants who work above a .5 FTE (40 hours per 2 weeks) are eligible for medical insurance, dental insurance, 401K with a match, disability insurance, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement.
