This is a 50% part-time position. This position is not eligible for H-1B visa sponsorship.
- Duties/responsibilities: performing high level experimental, theoretical, and numerical research and data analysis (55%)
- presentation publication, and proposal preparation (20%)
- mentoring PhD and MSME students (10%)
- laboratory organization and management (10%)
- other duties as assigned (5%)
In this position you will be expected to perform high level experimental, theoretical, and/or numerical research. Your primary research project will focus on Naturally-occurring Deep Eutectic Systems (NADES) and their low temperature behavior, but you will have some latitude to study a variety of scientific topics chosen through mutual agreement and within the constraints of available funding.
- You may generate new research ideas and lead development of new research proposals.
- You will collaborate with a highly interdisciplinary team within the University of Minnesota and partner universities, and may communicate with industrial partners through regular progress reports and support technology transfer as applicable.
- You will participate in preparing, presenting, and discussing data with study investigators.
- You will author, co-author, and collaborate on preparing publications for peer review, assist with progress reports, prepare presentations for conferences, attend grant review meetings, and assist with proposal preparation. You will also participate in preparing, presenting, and discussing data with study investigators.
- As a post-doctoral associate, you may mentor graduate students, undergraduate students, and/or lab technician research team members, and help them develop independent research as co-authors.
- You might act as lead on research projects, coordinating activities and providing regular updates to the lab group and Principal Investigator.
- You will share responsibility for organization and management of laboratories under the faculty mentor's supervision, ensure safety protocols are followed, record data, and back up data promptly.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications include:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biomedical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Experimental experience in an academic research lab environment
- Experience with cryopreservation of cells and aggregates
Preferred qualifications include:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently
- Experience with cell culture
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has an internationally recognized faculty, and is part of the College of Science and Engineering, the highly interdisciplinary college of engineering, physical sciences, and mathematics.
Pay and BenefitsPay Range: $62,232 to $67,000 (annual, 100%-time rate); depending on education/qualifications/experience
