Position Summary

As a Cook, you will prepare food items from scratch for our three store locations, ensuring the kitchen is clean, well‑stocked, and that our food meets safety and quality standards. Your duties include customer service, food production, packaging, inventory, stocking, safety, and sanitation.

Location: 740 East 7th Street, Saint Paul, MN 55106

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 7 am - 3 pm

Salary: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour

Qualifications
  • High‑Volume Food Production – experience in scratch cooking and recipe adjustments for varying servings
  • Food Safety and Hygiene – knowledge of safe food handling and cleanliness throughout the cooking process
  • Communication – demonstrated effective and respectful communication with customers and team members
  • Teamwork – able to be flexible to support the changing needs of our team and store
  • Time Management – proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Dependability – demonstrated ability to have consistent attendance and readiness to work
  • Initiative – able to look ahead to department needs and act to improve or deal with problems before they happen
  • Knife Skills – proficient in basic knife techniques; demonstrated mastery of basic cuts (chop, dice, julienne, mince) and advanced techniques (brunoise, chiffonade) and how to handle knives safely to prevent injuries
  • Diversity Awareness – able to respect people from all different backgrounds and abilities
  • Basic Math – ability to timely and correctly perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Physical and Working Requirements

The position involves frequent stationary tasks, along with regular movement within the kitchen and storage areas. Frequent positioning is required to access both low and high shelving, equipment, and products. The job also entails the frequent movement of containers weighing up to 50 lbs. Cooks constantly prepare and handle food items and may occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to reach high shelving. Cooks will utilize various equipment including but not limited to knives, mixers, ovens, and pallet jacks.

This role requires exchanging accurate information in person and over the phone. Additionally, cooks will occasionally work in a walk‑in cooler and be exposed to sanitizer, cleaning products, and loud noises.
