Assistant Manager role at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar

Position Description
Responsibilities- Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives of the unit.
- Cultivates a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee’s Premier Card of core values and beliefs.
- Responds promptly and corrects all verbal guest complaints.
- Prioritizes guest contact with completion of required table visits.
- Maintains departmental inventory levels.
- Ensures product preparation and presentation meet company standards by performing line checks.
- Schedules employees to meet sales demands.
- Maintains effective safety and security programs.
- Promotes and leads restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation.
- Performs routine maintenance and reports needed repairs to the General Manager/Area Director.
- Promotes quality recruitment and referrals of prospective team members and management candidates.
- Promotes Flynn | Applebee’s training procedures for new managers.
- Helps maintain a trained staff through effective uses of employment orientation, individual training sessions, employee meetings and implementation of company policy and training systems.
- Participates in continuous employee development using One‑on‑One and performance documentation, supporting completion of written evaluations.
- Assesses employee efficiency, provides fair feedback and works with employees on development areas.
- Monitors acceptable employee performance and documents situations that may require disciplinary or corrective action.
- Assures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures.
- Controls costs in assigned department.
- Complies with local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines.
- Drives bi‑weekly and weekly food and liquor inventories at AD/GM’s request.
- Prepares and submits accurate daily paperwork.
- Ensures sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee’s standards.
- Provides a role model for managers and employees.
- Develops skills on all store‑related technology.
- Willing and able to work in all positions and assist in a team member position as needed, including cooking, expo, seating, bartending, etc.
- Uses the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies.
- At least 2‑3 years of restaurant management experience.
- Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications (plus).
Compensation: $15.38 to $26.44 per hour ($44,850 to $68,500 annually based on a 50‑hour work week). Potential for monthly bonus where applicable by location.
Physical Standards- Work various shifts, including weekends.
- Stand for up to ten hours, maintaining well‑paced mobility.
- Safely lift pots, pans, glassware, boxes, etc. up to 50 pounds.
- Read and write to facilitate communication. Must possess finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment.
