The work you'll do is more than just a job. As a Plasterer at the Capitol Complex in St. Paul, you will perform skilled plastering work in both construction and maintenance settings. Responsibilities include applying and finishing plaster on flat and curved surfaces, repairing decorative plaster features, applying stucco, and performing drywall taping and sanding. This position plays a key part in preserving and enhancing the structural and aesthetic integrity of state-owned buildings.
Minimum Qualifications All applicants must qualify as a Journeyman Plasterer and possess a City of St. Paul Competency Card for plaster/stucco application. Must possess a valid MN Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. Additionally, all applicants must demonstrate:
- Experience working with drywall and taping/mudding
- Ability to provide project estimates for time, materials, and costs
- Ability to read and write blueprints
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers
- Basic computer skills to track and update work orders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in tile, brick, and flooring laying and repair
- Experience in tuck pointing and cement finishing and repair
- Experience providing plastering services in historical buildings
Physical Requirements Must be able to climb and work from ladders, scaffolding, personnel lifts and boom trucks both in and outdoors. Successful applicants will be required to take pre‑employment physical including a CRT strength test with a minimum ranking of Medium‑heavy. (Example: Able to lift 31‑45 lbs frequently at 100‑300 reps/hour).
