Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for a dependable Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in Saint Peters, Missouri on a Contract basis. This part-time opportunity is ideal for someone who takes pride in accurate financial work, stays organized in a fast-paced setting, and can keep payment activity moving efficiently. The person in this role will support day-to-day accounts payable functions by reviewing invoices, maintaining records, and working with vendors and internal teams to help ensure timely and compliant payments.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices and payment requests for proper authorization, correct account coding, and alignment with company guidelines before processing

- Enter and validate accounts payable transactions in the accounting system while maintaining accuracy and completeness of financial data

- Organize and maintain payable records, reports, and supporting documentation so files remain current and audit-ready

- Communicate with vendors and internal departments to research discrepancies, answer payment-related questions, and resolve issues promptly

- Prepare routine written correspondence connected to payment activity, account status updates, and follow-up requests

- Support year-end accounting tasks by assisting with inventory review activities, compiling schedules, and contributing to assigned projects

- Help carry out check run activities and other scheduled payment processes in accordance with established deadlines

- Complete additional accounting and administrative support duties as needed while following company procedures and workplace standards Requirements - Prior experience in accounts payable, including invoice processing and payment support responsibilities

- Working knowledge of invoice coding and account allocation within an accounting environment

- Experience reviewing documentation for accuracy, approvals, and policy compliance

- Ability to manage check runs and maintain detailed financial records with a high degree of precision

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders

- Proficiency using accounting software and standard office applications for data entry, record retrieval, and reporting
