Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center.
Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery and pulmonology. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation.
Role PurposeThe Patient Services Representative acts as the initial point of contact for front office activity and helps directs the patient flow process at the physician office. This position performs patient check-ins and appointment scheduling. This position also maintains patient financial records and may serve as a switchboard operator as needed.
Responsibilities- Handles telephone calls from patients and staff; forwards calls requiring triage.
- Performs receptionist duties with close attention to detail and professionalism.
- Verifies health insurance payment information and educates patients on the applicable regulations; collects payments and records data.
- Performs data entry of service charges, to include the assignment of diagnostic codes and the entering of all physician and clinic related charges.
- Coordinates information with Central Billing Office to ensure all charges are captured and properly collected.

- 2-5 years
