Job Title: Youth Peer Specialist

Location: St. Peters, MO

Employment Type: Part-time

Job Summary:

Join our team of dedicated professionals and make a profound impact on the lives of individuals recovering from mental health and substance use disorders. As a Recovery Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in guiding clients through their journey toward healing and independence, utilizing your own lived experience to inspire hope and growth. In this rewarding role, you will complete comprehensive assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide daily mentoring sessions to assigned clients.

Your expertise will be instrumental in assisting clients in developing outside support systems, facilitating group sessions, and ensuring a smooth transition into the Alumni Association.

Responsibilities
  • Complete intake, screening, and assessment processes within designated time frames under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor
  • Develop individualized treatment plans for clients in accordance with guidelines, demonstrating evolution based on assessments
  • Complete all correspondence in a timely manner, including expense reports and information for grant reports
  • Participate in clinical staffing and treatment meetings, providing feedback on pertinent cases
  • Adhere to the weekly direct service model
  • Provide daily or scheduled mentoring sessions with assigned clients
  • Assist clients in developing outside support systems and maintaining contact with pro-social supports
  • Ensure smooth transition for clients moving from traditional treatment services into the Alumni Association
  • Assist clients in developing daily structured schedules and monitor progress; document all services provided in accordance with standards
  • Correct any file or charting deficiencies within appropriate time frames
  • Assist clients through the transition process and complete final correspondence (e.g., transition summary, plan, letter)
  • Complete all mandatory trainings, obtaining 36 hours of training every 2 years with a focus on evidence-based practices and improved clinical skill sets; represent the agency within the community in a professional manner
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with referral sources, clients, and co-workers, adhering to the Code of Ethics and agency policies
  • Handle crisis situations as they arise
  • Facilitate group, safety net meetings, and individual sessions as scheduled; complete and track outcomes for the Alumni Association for their respective program
  • Arrange and participate in pro-social activities for the Alumni Association; perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and management
Qualifications
  • Education and/or Experience

    Qualifications:

    Hold the credentials of a Qualified Addiction Professional as defined by the Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. (MCB) OR a trainee that meets the requirements for registration, supervision, and professional development as set forth by either The Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. or the appropriate board of professional registration with the Department of Economic Development for licensure as a psychologist, professional counselor, or social worker
  • Additional Requirements:

    Thorough knowledge of caseload management and rehabilitation methods, principles, and techniques as they relate to mental health and substance abuse treatment services
    Knowledge of the problems encountered by persons with mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders
    Considerable knowledge of the methods, modalities, legal requirements, and court procedures related to treating mental illnesses and substance abuse
    Ability to establish rapport with the client population
    Some knowledge of supervisory and training techniques and practices used in a mental health and/or substance abuse treatment setting
    Aptitude to evaluate services within assigned program and provide input
    Capable of communicating ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to produce clear and concise reports
