Lead Building Attendant – Rec-Plex

A Police Aide is utilized as civilian support staff within the Police Support Services Division of the Spartanburg Police Department. Performs a variety of clerical tasks inclusive of operating a multiple-line phone system, data entry, quality control and maintenance of the records and documents.

• Performs basic clerical skills such as typing, entering data, and filing.
• Assists the general public with questions, routes incoming calls to appropriate personnel, and supplies requested information.
• Works with police officers to ensure they receive the proper information requested such as tags, missing persons, warrants, stolen property, driver’s license information, etc.
• Types a minimum of 40 words per minute and uses basic office equipment while learning various computer software programs.
• Establishes and maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work, including a culturally diverse general public, with a focus on providing extraordinary customer service to internal and external customers.

• Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays; anticipation of working 2nd and 3rd shift hours.
• Possession of a valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
• Ability to learn law enforcement practices and procedures.
• Passage of an extensive police background check.

• First Shift: 7 am until 5 pm
• Second Shift: 4 pm until 2 am
• Third Shift: 10 pm until 8 am

Police Aides are required to wear a prescribed uniform and adhere to department grooming standards.

Minimum starting pay is $41,912 annually or higher depending on experience.
