MSM North America is seeking a detail‑oriented and motivated Accountant to support daily accounting operations in a dynamic, high‑compliance defense contracting environment. This role assists with general ledger activities, reconciliations, financial reporting, and cost accounting functions to ensure accuracy and adherence to U.S. GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). The Accountant will work closely with the finance team to maintain financial integrity, support audits, and contribute to efficient month‑end close and reporting processes.

- Support the preparation and entry of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Process accounts payable, receivable, and expense reports in accordance with company policies.
- Participate in year‑end closing activities ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain proper documentation and records to support audit readiness and financial transparency.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, FAR/D‑FARs, and cost accounting standards (CAS) requirements.
- Assist in preparing financial statements, internal reports, and supporting documentation.
- Support the controller and coordinate audits including DCA and external reviews.
- Maintain accurate and complete files in compliance with federal record‑keeping and company policy.
- Assist in tracking budgets, forecasts, and cost allocations for projects and contracts.
- Perform variance analysis and identify trends to support financial decision‑making.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for accounting efficiency and internal controls.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related fields required.
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting or finance; prior experience in defense or U.S. government contracting preferred.
- Familiarity with CAS and DCAA audit practices desirable.
- CPA licensing preferred.
- Working knowledge of US GAAP principles in standard accounting procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP systems preferred.
- U.S. Persons required.
This position offers flexibility. The ideal candidate will be based within commutable distance to MSM's St. Petersburg, FL headquarters. The Accountant will operate in a professional office environment and collaborate closely with finance, contracts, and operations teams to ensure accurate and compliant financial practices.
