Director - Accounting and Tax

Total Expected Compensation: $125,000–$150,000 (including bonus)

Sloan Farley is a fast-growing, two-partner CPA firm specializing in transaction advisory, accounting, and outsourced CFO and controller services. Our goal is to build the best CPA advisory firm. We believe that starts with hiring great people who take pride in their work and consistently deliver results.

We don't track billable hours, so there are no timesheets to fill out.

This is a hands-on leadership role and a key hire for our growing firm. You will prepare tax returns, reconcile accounts, manage financial reporting, advise clients, and oversee analysts.

As the firm grows, you will help build and lead the team. We want a proven high performer who wants to help build a great firm.

• Prepare and review business and individual tax returns.
• Provide tax planning and advice to clients.
• Research tax questions and explain solutions clearly.
• Manage tax deadlines and ensure work is completed accurately and on time.

• Lead monthly accounting and financial reporting for clients.
• Prepare and review financial statements.
• Reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts.
• Identify accounting issues and resolve them.
• Help clients understand their financial results.
• Provide controller- and CFO-level advice, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

• Manage client relationships and communicate directly with business owners.
• Oversee and review work performed by analysts.
• Take responsibility for the quality and timely delivery of all work.
• Help improve processes and build the tax and accounting practice.
• Hire and develop a team as the practice grows.
• Help drive practice growth and achieve revenue targets.

• Active CPA license required.
• 6+ years of accounting and tax experience.
• Proven track record of strong performance in prior roles.
• Strong knowledge of business and individual taxes.
• Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting.
• Able to prepare tax returns and complete accounting work independently.
• Able to explain complex topics to clients in simple terms.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable.
• Willing to research and learn when you don't know an answer.
• Comfortable managing multiple clients and deadlines.
• Able to supervise others while doing hands-on work.
• Motivated to take on more responsibility and grow with the firm.
• Experience with tax due diligence for business acquisitions is a plus.
