Trakka Systems combines over two decades of aerospace product development and innovation with newly established, fast-growing manufacturing operations at our Bradenton facility. Though the plant is only a few years old, we are backed by a highly skilled engineering team and a long history of delivering advanced aviation technology. We are scaling from small‑batch to high‑volume production and need a hands‑on Production Engineer to build processes, improve efficiency, and support significant growth in output.
Role OverviewThe Production Engineer will develop, optimize, and scale manufacturing processes while improving quality, throughput, and workforce capability. This role blends hands‑on shop‑floor work with engineering discipline—ideal for someone who likes building systems from the ground up, training operators, and implementing automation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for consistency and scalability.
- Create clear, operator‑friendly SOPs, work instructions, and training materials.
- Analyze production data, perform time studies, and remove bottlenecks.
- Design and implement fixtures, jigs, tools, and semi‑automated solutions.
- Support test fixture automation and data collection using Python, C, or similar languages.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts using Lean/5S/Six Sigma techniques.
- Collaborate with engineering to improve manufacturability and quality.
- Train and mentor low‑skill operators on process standards and best practices.
- Support equipment selection, validation, maintenance plans, and layout improvements.
- Ensure safety, process documentation, and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 3–7+ years in a production/manufacturing engineering role.
- Strong hands‑on process development experience.
- Ability to train and mentor entry‑level production workers.
- Proficiency with CAD tools (Solid Works/Creo).
- Experience with Python, C/C++, or similar for test automation, scripting, or tooling.
- Knowledge of Lean, 5S, continuous improvement, and root‑cause analysis.
- Experience in early‑stage, rapidly scaling manufacturing environments.
- Experience implementing automation, semi‑automation, PLCs, or robotics.
- Understanding of quality systems (ISO 9001/AS9100) and data‑driven improvement.
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems.
- Strong communicator capable of teaching and coaching operators.
- Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
- Highly organized with strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
