The Manufacturing Engineer III will lead and operate with a high level of efficiency, integrity and enthusiasm, striving to achieve excellence and avoid mediocrity in all endeavors. They will be a creative and proactive contributor on the engineering team, focused on continuous improvement. They will provide guidance and training to less-experienced engineers and to engineering techs. They will initiate plant-wide improvement projects and cultivate positive changes by instituting best practices that could be shared and implemented among the different Work cell Manufacturing Engineers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis Manufacturing Engineering III role must be viewed as supporting the manufacturing floor focused on driving process improvements in all the heavy manual dependent operations.
The Manufacturing Engineering III shall use data collection to work on value added solutions to impact the bottom line in a positive manner.
Work alongside the Manufacturing Engineering Technicians to help develop their skill set and to promote a proactive approach to preventative maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
Design, order and validate manufacturing process, fixtures, etc. for the process.
Support the Manufacturing Engineering Lead in the evaluation of equipment to be successful for today and the company’s future.
Support the Manufacturing Engineering Leads vision to cultivate change in our day to day floor support activities.
Undertake technology bench marking and drive “best in class” engineering solutions.
Monitor key metrics such as Customer Return Rate (CRR), First Pass Yield (FPY), and Scrap and provide improvement plans to keep metrics above goal.
Provide input on creative ways to reduce costs by streamlining processes and systems eliminating waste.
Provide guidance, assistance and / or training to the Manufacturing Engineers I and II’s and Manufacturing Engineering Technicians Levels (I, II, III).
Encourage open communication and exchange of information within the M.E. department and between the various support groups.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Identify training/development needs on an ongoing basis
Provide 1 on 1 coaching to facilitate individual excellence
Review quality and Scrap metrics and improve continuously
Drive a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement throughout the Manufacturing Engineering function
Drive motivation levels within the areas supported.
Drive consistency of approach and performance
Drive “internal customer focus” mindset within the Engineering department
Drive continuous improvement in Labor cost, quality and on-time delivery
Analyze and prioritize areas for manufacturing Engineering improvement e.g. machine up time, efficiency, and quality improvements.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives, mistake proof decisions throughout the Manufacturing floor.
Apply and institute the 80/20 rule when acting upon day-to-day duties and activities.
3 - 5 years prior Manufacturing/Process Engineering experience in Electronics Manufacturing including:
Knowledge of components, printed circuit boards, and chemistries used in electronics manufacturing.
Ability to design and implement processes related to relevant electronics manufacturing technology
Demonstrated knowledge of IPC-610/J-STD-001 requirements
Basic understanding of labor and equipment capacity, quoting and efficiency.
