Mechanical Designer

Job Description about the position…

The mechanical designer at Power Design is responsible for designing mechanical and plumbing systems on large-scale projects. The role involves performing HVAC load and plumbing flow calculations, selecting equipment, and creating ductwork and piping layouts.

Position details and responsibilities include:

• Coordinating the best design solutions for mechanical and plumbing systems by applying industry standards, considering customer needs, and adhering to budget constraints.
• Providing design guidance and support to team members, including working directly with Revit CADD technicians to ensure quality and constructability reviews.
• Communicating effectively with clients, project teams, and authorities having jurisdiction.

Qualifications and experience sought include:

• Being a team player who acts with customers in mind, thrives in a dynamic environment, and has at least three (3) years of relevant mechanical/plumbing design experience.
• Having knowledge of constructability and solid fundamentals in mechanical and plumbing system design and installation methods.
• Experience with VRV, WSHP, DX Split systems, and/or CADD/Revit, with a bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes (IPC, IMC, IBC, ASHRAE).
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interpret blueprints, submittals, and specifications, and perform basic plumbing calculations.
• Knowledge of HVAC load calculations using Trane Trace or similar programs, and experience in duct sizing and layout for air systems.
