Monday - Friday, 8-hour shift

This is a highly complex governmental accounting and financial reporting position at Solid Waste. This position will perform professional accounting work in the maintenance, review, processing, and auditing of financial records and reports.
What Would You Do?- Conducts Month End Close reconciliations, quarterly budget audits, bank reconciliations, expenditure reconciliations.
- Processes the opening and closing of customer accounts.
- Prepares financial schedules for external and internal audits.
- Trouble‑shoots and coordinates with integrated accounting systems vendors/owners for corrective actions.
- Generates transactional and financial reports to distribute appropriately.
- Serves as Lead worker to Accounting and Finance Technicians – provides quarterly feedback to Budget & Financial Management Analyst and Section Manager on performance matters to assist with growth opportunities for AFTs.
- Maintains the procedures through the direction and review of the Budget & Financial Management Analyst.
- Extracts reports and schedules to assist with monitoring the flow of financial data for internal controls and data integrity.
- Assists with developing, testing, updating, and implementing of financial tasks in accordance with established goals and objectives.
- Verifies procurement methods are being followed by department.
- Updates outdated processes and procedures.
- Five (5) years of experience in recognized accountant work; or
- Associate's degree in accounting, finance, business administration (or two (2) years of related college level education) and three (3) years of experience as an accountant; or
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or another related field and one (1) year of experience in accountant work; or
- Master’s degree in accounting, business administration or related field; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
- Experience in team leadership.
