Medical Technologist & Lab Technician
As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in the Parasitology department at IDEXX
you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. In This Role:- You will be using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
- You will be performing diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day.
- You will be responsible for setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- You can expect to specialize in the following area:
- Parasitology:
Examining samples to identify parasites, utilizing fecal flotation and various microscopic techniques.
- Parasitology:
- You are able to work the overnight shift.
- You possess a High School diploma or equivalent. A 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a Science‑related field is preferred.
- Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) is a plus.
- You ideally have experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
- You have a positive attitude and want to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues.

- You concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely.

- Physical requirements include standing and sitting for extended periods, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50 lb, and specific vision ability (close, color, depth perception, ability to adjust focus).
- This is a laboratory; there is potential exposure to biohazards, zoonotic agents, and hazardous chemicals.
- Hourly rates targeting $24.00 / hr (includes shift differential).

- Work 40 hours / week. Scheduled shifts likely start at 11:30 pm and end at 8:00 am, Monday‑Friday with a Saturday rotation. Flexibility to stay longer as needed is a huge plus.
- Weekend rotations are required. One week:
Monday through Friday nights with Saturday and Sunday off; next week: four weeknights plus Saturday night, one night off during the week and Sunday night. Saturday hours are [INSERT HOURS].
