Lead Engineer, HP Nonstop Development

Lead HP Non Stop Engineer – St. Petersburg, FL

Hybrid work model: in‑office 2–3 days a week at the St. Petersburg Corporate Office.

This position will analyze business requirements and deliver quality technical solutions as part of the Back Office development team. The role is responsible for application development, modification, maintenance, and support for the IT securities back office.

• Develop existing applications and contribute to new applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
• Design, perform, and review software tests for applications and web sites.
• Monitor, diagnose, and correct performance issues and complex software defects.
• Recommend code reuse or new development as appropriate.
• Lead assigned projects, including task assignment, coordination, and performance monitoring.
• Recommend new technologies and methodologies to address business needs.
• Compare data from different sources, draw conclusions, and provide actionable insights.
• Evaluate reporting formats, costs, and security needs for hardware configuration.
• Participate in system testing, validation, programming, and documentation.
• Provide technical advice and assist with programming problem solutions.
• Write and review system specifications, output requirements, and flow charts.
• Create and maintain high‑standard technical and user documentation; ensure data backup reliability.
• Prevent rework and schedule slips through proper problem analysis and programming approach.
• Communicate complex ideas clearly to individuals and groups.
• Demonstrate satisfactory technical and professional skill in position‑related areas; keep up with industry trends.
• Build collaborative relationships to facilitate achievement of work goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• More than five (5) years of relevant development or engineering experience.
• Experience with HP Non Stop COBOL
  85, HPNS SQL/MX, and SQL/MP.
• Experience in Pathway servers and configuration.
• Experience with HP Non Stop/Tandem Guardian OS application development.
• Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience.
• Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid software development methodologies.
• Experience in brokerage, clearing, Middle Office, and Back Office domains is a strong plus.
• Experience with messaging platforms (e.g., MQ) is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Experience working in remote and globally distributed business environments, using tools such as Microsoft Teams, Azure‑Dev Ops, etc.
• Availability for occasional non‑standard shifts and on‑call rotations (once every 8–9 weeks).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Bachelor’s in Computer and Information Science (Required).

General Experience – 6 to 10 years.
