Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons in accordance with the school curriculum.
Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that supports the diverse learning needs of all students.
Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to support different learning styles and abilities.
Assess, record, and report on the progress, development, and attainment of students regularly.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents or guardians.
Develop and maintain classroom routines that promote respect, responsibility, and positive behaviour.
Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and school leadership to enhance the educational experience for all students.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, parent-teacher conferences, and school events.
Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to support student learning and well-being.
Uphold school policies and maintain high standards of teaching, learning, and professionalism.
Identify and respond to the individual needs of students, including those with special educational needs or learning difficulties.
Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance learning and engagement.
Skills
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Strong knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Ability to create a supportive, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
Effective classroom management and behaviour management skills
Good organizational and time-management skills
Proficiency in using educational technology and digital teaching tools
Ability to assess student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work as part of a team
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field
Teaching certification or licensure valid for the specific state, region, or country
Additional qualifications or training in special education, literacy, or curriculum development (desirable)
Experience
Previous experience teaching elementary-aged children (typically 1–3 years or more)
Experience working with children of diverse backgrounds and learning abilities
Familiarity with the curriculum and educational standards relevant to the school
Experience in lesson planning, assessment, and classroom management
Participation in professional development and ongoing teacher training
