Position: DIRECTOR, FOOD AND NUTRITION & ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES IV at St. Vincent Salem

Director, Food and Nutrition & Environmental Services IV – St. Vincent Salem

Reports to: Systems Director

Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday, with flexibility based on business needs.

Job Summary: As the Director of Food & Nutrition and Environmental Services, you will be responsible for the overall management of the food and nutrition and housekeeping departments in a critical access hospital setting. This is a 36‑bed facility with an average daily census of 2 patients. You will lead a team of one manager and 13 hourly associates, coordinate and support all departmental activities, and work with all levels of facility staff regarding cleanliness and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates housekeeping activities with other departments
  • Oversees food & nutrition services of the hospital
  • Oversees department’s financial data and statistics
  • Monitors unit expenditures
  • Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensures the department operates within budget
  • Actively communicates with administration and other hospital departments
  • Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and supervises functions and activities of the department
  • Establishes work standards and workflow
  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations
  • Encourages and mentors staff creativity and innovation
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies
  • Remains proactive in achieving the facility goals and objectives
  • Demonstrates quality leadership in meeting performance plans
  • Reads and develops in the Total Quality Management process
  • Develops and maintains job descriptions for department staff
  • Encourages staff to participate in education programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of food service or housekeeping management experience
  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is desired
  • The ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data
  • General business acumen
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
  • Participative management approach, organizational skills, and budgeting ability aligned with facility needs
  • Excellent stress management and administrative follow‑through skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
