Position Title:
Medical Assistant (Part‑Time)
Dr. Black’s Eye Associates is seeking a friendly, reliable Medical Assistant (ophthalmology) to support our clinical team in a part‑time capacity. No prior ophthalmic experience is required—
we will train the right candidate
. You’ll help with patient intake, basic eye measurements, clinic room setup, and accurate documentation to keep visits running smoothly in a fast‑paced medical setting.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Patient Intake & Rooming:
Greet patients, confirm reason for visit, review medications/allergies, and prepare exam rooms. - Basic Vision Measurements:
Learn and perform visual acuity and other standard pre‑tests using checklists and step‑by‑step protocols. - Tonometry & Drops (Training Provided):
Measure eye pressure and assist with diagnostic drops under supervision once trained. - Clinic Flow Support:
Turn rooms, restock supplies, clean/disinfect instruments per protocol, and help keep schedules on time. - Documentation:
Enter patient information and test results into the EHR accurately and promptly (training provided). - Patient Communication:
Reinforce provider instructions and assist with scheduling/follow‑up as directed. - Team Support:
Shadow experienced technicians and assist providers during exams and minor procedures setup once comfortable.
- No ophthalmic experience required—willing to train the right candidate.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Comfortable using computers; able to type and navigate EHR systems after training.
- Strong attention to detail with a friendly, professional bedside manner.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow step‑by‑step instructions and checklists.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Customer service experience, medical office exposure, or interest in healthcare/ophthalmology. COA/COT certification is a plus but not necessary.
Schedule- Part‑time position
- Approximately three days per week, with some scheduling flexibility based on clinic needs
This role is performed in a professional medical office. While carrying out job responsibilities, the employee regularly communicates verbally, uses hands for data entry and equipment handling, and moves throughout clinic spaces. Standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching are frequent. The ability to occasionally lift or move items up to 50 pounds is required. Visual acuity for close and distance viewing, along with the ability to adjust focus, is necessary.
The office maintains a low‑to‑moderate noise environment.
