Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane, understanding the Point of Sale system and handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.

Rotate all merchandise according to code dating policies and check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.

Promote trust and respect among team members.

Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions regarding products sold.

Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer inquiries, making suggestions when appropriate.

Greet, engage, and assist customers.

Inform customers of grocery specials.

Order, label, stock, and inventory merchandise.

Report product ordering, shipping, and pricing discrepancies to store management.

Adhere to company limits on cash shortages/overages and work to control loss.

Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, Fireworks).

Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.

Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, ensuring proper temperatures and maintaining temperature logs.

Reinforce safety programs, comply with safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions.

Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.

Report customer or employee accidents.

Follow all applicable laws and company policies.

Perform physical tasks such as standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, and repetitive motions.

Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.

Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.

Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Knowledge of basic math
Ability to complete cashier training
Memorization of produce and sale items
Effective communication and reading skills
Must be 18 years old
