Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support day-to-day invoice and payment activities for an organization based in Salem, Massachusetts. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing high-volume financial transactions with accuracy. The person in this role will help keep accounts payable operations running smoothly by reviewing invoices, maintaining coding accuracy, and assisting with timely payment processing.

Responsibilities:

• Review incoming invoices for completeness, accuracy, and proper approval before entering them into the accounting system.
• Assign correct general ledger or departmental codes to invoices to support accurate financial tracking and reporting.
• Process vendor invoices in a timely manner while maintaining strong attention to detail and compliance with internal procedures.
• Prepare and support check runs and other payment activities to ensure vendors are paid according to established schedules.
• Reconcile invoice records and payment details to identify discrepancies and help resolve outstanding issues promptly.
• Communicate with vendors and internal departments to answer payment-related questions and obtain missing documentation when needed.
• Maintain organized accounts payable files and records to support audits, reporting needs, and ongoing financial controls.
