Who We AreSalem Academy Charter School (SACS) is a nationally ranked urban charter school north of Boston, MA, offering a rigorous college preparatory program to nearly 500 students in grades 6‑12. WhatYou’ll Do
- Education and Assessment
- Align curricular standards with state guidelines
- Monitor student progress through standards‑based assessments
- Analyze student data and differentiate instruction
- Teach 4 classes per day (2 periods reserved for preparation and collaboration)
- Support, plan, and/or co‑lead service‑learning projects
- Advise students in daily connections class (homeroom)
- Input academic and behavioral data in the school data management system
- Family Engagement
- Participate in parent/teacher/student conferences three times per year
- Communicate regularly with families about academic and social progress
- Co‑host IEP meetings
- Collaboration and Culture
- Build and maintain a strong school culture centered on student achievement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the success of the school mission
- Participate in weekly professional development and grade‑level team meetings
- Maintain data entry in the school data management system
- You are a skilled educator with 1‑3 years of math teaching experience and a sound understanding of Common Core.
- You are committed to standards‑based teaching and learning, and you focus on student outcomes.
- You understand culturally responsive education and create student‑centered learning environments.
- You have a proven track record of academic success with a diverse student body.
- You align with SACS's mission and values and build community.
- You foster inclusive practices and maintain a safe, positive, respectful classroom culture.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Demonstrated subject‑matter competence and a sound understanding of Common Core.
- Massachusetts Teacher Certification or completion of the appropriate MTELs.
- Background clearance.
- Preferred: multilingual in Spanish and English; culturally responsive curriculum experience;
Master’s degree;
National Board Certification; passion for integrating academics with service work; collaborative instructional improvement skills.
