Salem Academy Charter School (SACS) is a nationally ranked urban charter school north of Boston, MA, offering a rigorous college preparatory program to nearly 500 students in grades 6‑12. Since 2004, SACS has been committed to serving the diverse population of Salem, integrating college‑prepared classes with community service to help students grow into informed, articulate, proactive individuals of strong character.

• Education and Assessment
  • Align curricular standards with state guidelines
  • Monitor student progress through standards‑based assessments
  • Analyze student data and differentiate instruction
  • Teach 4 classes per day (2 periods reserved for preparation and collaboration)
  • Support, plan, and/or co‑lead service‑learning projects
  • Advise students in daily connections class (homeroom)
  • Input academic and behavioral data in the school data management system
• Family Engagement
  • Participate in parent/teacher/student conferences three times per year
  • Communicate regularly with families about academic and social progress
  • Co‑host IEP meetings
• Collaboration and Culture
  • Build and maintain a strong school culture centered on student achievement
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the success of the school mission
  • Participate in weekly professional development and grade‑level team meetings
  • Maintain data entry in the school data management system

• You are a skilled educator with 1‑3 years of math teaching experience and a sound understanding of Common Core.
• You are committed to standards‑based teaching and learning, and you focus on student outcomes.
• You understand culturally responsive education and create student‑centered learning environments.
• You have a proven track record of academic success with a diverse student body.
• You align with SACS's mission and values and build community.
• You foster inclusive practices and maintain a safe, positive, respectful classroom culture.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Demonstrated subject‑matter competence and a sound understanding of Common Core.
• Massachusetts Teacher Certification or completion of the appropriate MTELs.
• Background clearance.
• Preferred: multilingual in Spanish and English; culturally responsive curriculum experience;
  Master’s degree;
  National Board Certification; passion for integrating academics with service work; collaborative instructional improvement skills.
