Job Description - Staff Assistant for Transfer Mapping & Articulation (250008BE)
OverviewSalem State University seeks a highly organized Staff Assistant for a one-year, temporary, grant-funded role supporting the university’s transfer mapping and articulation initiatives. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in transfer credit processes, curriculum mapping, academic policy, and student-success operations within a collaborative higher education environment.
Working with the Associate Director of Transfer Services & Degree Audit, the Staff Assistant helps develop and maintain transfer pathway maps, articulation agreements, curriculum crosswalks, and student-facing credit evaluation resources and supports the articulation process. Responsibilities include gathering academic program information, updating transfer equivalency data, preparing materials used in advising and recruitment, and supporting communication with academic departments and community college partners.
This role is ideal for candidates looking to build skills and experience in enrollment management, academic affairs, or advising while contributing to improved transfer pathways for students.

- Bachelor’s degree. Candidates anticipating graduation within six months who are available to work full time may be considered.
- At least one year of student services experience (relevant student employment experience may be considered)
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort learning new systems and tools.
- Experience with transfer credit evaluation or academic advising.
- Familiarity with Oracle Campus Solutions (People Soft), OnBase, MAST, TES, or other student information systems.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret curricular requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, including translating complex academic information into clear student-facing materials.
- Knowledge of Massachusetts public higher education transfer policies and the Mass Transfer framework.
- Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole language proficiency.
This is a hybrid position in Salem, MA with some on-campus, in-person responsibilities, which may require occasional work on evenings and weekends.
