Accounting Intern Peabody Essex Museum

Hoping to apply your Finance and Accounting skills to a company with a mission? Come to PEM! Our Finance team is seeking an intern to assist with day-to-day tasks and multiple strategic projects during the Spring of 2027.

Spring is a great time to join the finance team  are optimizing multiple new systems and streamlining our operational processes. An intern in our department will get exposure to the daily life of the Finance team and will get first-hand experience working in the nerve center of a nonprofit that reaches Salem, New England, and beyond!

During this internship, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting both our core accounting functions and broader strategic goals. You will have the opportunity to assist with system optimization, help us improve overall efficiency, and support the team where it is needed most. Your work will be directly tied to the department’s active needs this spring, providing a well-rounded look at how a dynamic nonprofit finance team operates.

This is a great chance to develop practical accounting and systems skills while collaborating with staff across the museum.

Stipend: $2,000

Duration:12 weeks (January 21 – April 26, 2027)

Schedule:15 hours/week (180 hours total)

• Undergraduate or graduate accounting students are encouraged to apply.
• Must be ready and eager to learn new systems.
• Ability to commute to the museum in Salem is a must.
• Strong organizational and communication skills sufficient to perform the necessary tasks of the position.

Located in the heart of downtown Salem, Massachusetts, the Peabody Essex Museum is Salem’s museum of art and culture, with exhibitions that explore everything from witch trials history to nature and science.
