Shift: Evening – 1 pm to 9:30 pm or 1:30 pm to 10 pm. Includes every 3rd weekend and holidays.

Job SummaryResponsible for collecting and processing blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing.
Essential Functions- Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
- Ensures accurate patient identification, correct specimen labeling, processing, handling, and transportation.
- Assists in the recovery of patients experiencing adverse reactions and responds rapidly to medical emergencies in the inpatient setting.
- Communicates effectively with patients and care teams, explaining procedures and addressing concerns to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Handles sharps and biohazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure safety.
- Works fluently with computer programs and systems, complying with HIPAA regulations.
- Performs other test administration and specimen collection as assigned.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: No experience required; completion of a phlebotomy course preferred. Certificate of completion in phlebotomy or a medical assisting program such as nursing is preferred. 1 + year of phlebotomy experience and demonstrated proficiency strongly preferred.
- Licenses & Credentials: Class D passenger vehicle driver’s license preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Proficiency in proper collection methods and specimen processing; good written and oral communication; ability to prioritize work and manage time; superior customer service skills, empathy, and respect for patient privacy; ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
