Mental Health Technician

Essential Functions

• Assist with care and treatment of psychiatric, drug and alcohol patients.
• Advocate for patients who may be vulnerable or need additional support.
• Parent/Family counseling, including Parent Management Training and Family Systems interventions.
• Adhere to guidelines for patients on special status (e.g., suicide, sexual abuse, or AWOL precautions).
• Provide accurate information on shift-to-shift reports and remain on the unit while the incoming shift is in report.
• Think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
• Display professional boundaries in relationships with patients at all times.
• Complete and file all documentation as required in a timely manner.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – preferred. Nursing Assistant (LNA), New Hampshire, preferred by the New Hampshire Board of Nursing.

Related experience 0-1 year preferred.

• Ability to work well collaboratively and independently.
• Ability to operate within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
• Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work effectively with patients, other members of the Health Care Team, facility personnel, and families/supportive others.
• Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
• Successful completion of CPI training is required within 30 days of hire.
